  • “It takes Heather Valley just 8 songs in 32 minutes to make a smashing impression,” Altcountry wrote of Desert Message , the Canadian singer-songwriter's debut album. According to many, it was one of the most beautiful country folk albums that appeared in 2019.

Like many good stories, Heather Valley's begins with a broken heart. As a lawyer, she seemed on her way to a bright future. Until she fell in love with the wrong man and lost everything. Somewhere halfway through the deep dark hole she fell into, she picked up her guitar and found hold of the sketches of songs she had made earlier. It was the impetus for the aforementioned Desert Message .

In eight beautiful, often dreamy, sometimes grim songs she wraps up the dramatic events of the past, songs in which her love for the music of Jason Molina resounds. Mike 'Slo Mo' Brenner, known for his work with Molina, can also be heard on pedal steel. Wildflower Radio was released this year , a warm collection of covers that emphasize Heather's soft Americana style.
